Finding YourAttendants
Selecting the wedding party can become a dreaded task. Some couples feel the pressure and obligation on asking certain people to be in their wedding party. Always remember that it is your day and the more comfortable with your bridal party you are, the smoother the planning, fittings and pre-wedding parties will go.
There tends to be no age limit on your wedding party. Bridesmaids and groomsmen tend to be 16 years old and older, junior bridesmaids are typically between 10 to 15 years old and flower girls and ring bearers are under 10 years old. After getting a good idea of who you want to ask to be in your bridal party, think about what you will need out of them. Don’t be afraid to let them know what you need from them; try not to assume that they will know what is expected of them.
The Maid of Honor
The maid of honor typically helps with any prewedding plans that the bride needs help with. She should arrange a bridal shower and bachorlette party with the help of the other bridesmaids. At the ceremony the maid of honor helps with getting the bride dressed and ready, helps with fixing the veil and dress at the alter if needed, holds the bride’s bouquet during the vows and holds onto the groom’s ring until it isneeded. Along with the best man the maid of honor will also serve as a witness and sign the wedding certificate. At the reception the maid of honor typically gives a toast to the new married couple.
The Best Man
The best man plans the bachelor party and gives any support that is needed to the groom in preparing for the wedding. At the ceremony he will hold onto the bride’s ring until it is needed and sign the wedding certificate serving as a witness. He is also expected to present a speech atthe reception.
The Groomsmen and Bridesmaids
Along with the rest of your wedding party the groomsmen and bridesmaids are in charge of paying for their own wedding attire. They will also be expected to help with any wedding planning and shopping that is needed and help with the prewedding parties. The groomsmen and bestmantypically get out of a lot of the prewedding planning and shopping, but they can be a great help the day of the wedding. There are usually plenty of things that need to be set up and details that need finishing touches the day of the wedding. The groomsmen can also help greet your guests and help the ushers if needed.
Flower Girl and Ring Bearer
Sometimes it is hard picking your flower girl and ring bearer if you have a lot of kids that you are close to. Remember that if you are having a hard time picking between more than one flower girl or ring bearer, that you can have more than one. You can also make other jobs for them, like helping roll out the aisle runner, help carry the train of your dress, sitting at the signing book, ushers, etc.
